Managing your Sever’s Lesion
Treatment
- Symptomatic management: applying ice to the region.
- Muscle release – calf muscle
- Exercises: calf stretching program, calf strengthening program as pain allows.
- Activity and load management – there is no need to rest completely. Pain is the main guide as to the limitation of activity.
- Heel raise shoe inserts. Orthoses may be required.
- Biomechanics correction strategies.
Prognosis: the condition usually settles within 6 to 12 months but occasionally symptoms will persist for as long as two years.
