FAQ: Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

We get asked this question a lot. The short answer is no. While referrals from your doctor are useful, they are not required. If you have pain or an injury, you can just book in.

If you are seeing your GP for an injury, a referral can be useful as it can provide some detail about your condition. Moreover, a GP may refer you for physiotherapy under a care plan which can enable Medicare to subsidise some of your sessions with us.
